What Are the Benefits of Past Life Regression?

Have you ever wondered who you were and what you did in a past life?

Not only that, how did it feel in your being and what did it mean to your Soul?

The wonders of Past Life Regression is something that continues to amaze me.

In a recent Experiential Astrology workshop facilitated by Daniel Sowelu, we had an opportunity to do a past life regression, guided by Shiva and the South Node of the Moon in Libra.

In Daniel’s introduction meditation, we were each guided to a temple, a sacred place from which we could access the past life it would benefit us to revisit.

After entering the temple, Daniel guided us to the centre of the complex where we were invited to view an altar.

What I saw on the altar was a sculpture of what I thought was a Goddess dancing in and seemingly holding up a circle.

In my mind I recognised the sculpture. But I thought, isn’t this Shiva’s temple, why is there a statue of a Goddess dancing on the altar. I put this thought aside and I continued the transition to the past life.

What I saw in the past life was myself as a man in ancient times. I was dressed in robes, I was wearing a headdress, and adorned with jewellery, including rings on my fingers.

I was walking through a courtyard towards a temple. I had the feeling I was a type of Priest.

Priest Walking To Temple

There was a gathering of people on either side of me. As I walked towards the temple, some of the people near me were kneeling or bowing, looking and reaching up, as if asking for a blessing.

In my role as Priest, I felt what it was like to channel and ground the energy of the divine, and to share that with the people in my community.

I felt how I and the role I performed was of genuine benefit to the community I was a part of. I had the feeling of being revered, respected and valued by the people around me. It was a bit like how a pop star might be revered today.

Priest Blessing

From my perspective as Stefan today, I could feel myself processing, and working to get past the judgments and filters that my current personality has;

  • What does it mean to be a spiritual figure in a community?
  • What does it mean to wield spiritual authority?
  • How does it feel to have privilege bestowed upon me for the role I performed as a ‘Priest’ in that life, compared to today as a male spiritual practitioner?
  • Is it OK for me to be revered, respected, valued, even celebrated?
  • How did I feel about wearing fine robes, a head dress, jewellery and rings on my fingers? Is that unnecessary, extravagant and getting in the way of authenticity? Or is it possible for me to be open to receiving and enjoying more expensive and luxurious items and experiences?
  • As a Priest in the past life, I felt how in my integrity I was while I performed my role in the community, as I was being looked up to, valued, respected and also counted upon. I then reflected on what it means to be stable, grounded and in integrity, while having responsibility and privilege as a practitioner in this life.

By revisiting this past life I was left with the opportunity to reframe, and enhance my current perception and understanding of what it means to be a spiritual professional today.

For me, revisiting a past life is so much richer, deeper and refreshing than thinking about history and imagining what the past might have been like.

During a past life regression everything comes alive. Your own feelings, sensing and experiences of personal relationships and life events, in the midst of a specific and unique community, place and time, is so vivid, and filled with information and meaning. This is far more than you could possibly imagine from the narrow snapshots we have of history.

All of this is enhanced even more when you receive the guidance and clarity from your Higher Self, about what your Soul’s desires and intentions were from that life. And also what the opportunities for your learning and growth are from what you experienced.

This holistic information about your past life, then gives you profound insights into your current situation, and your current life’s experiences.

After my first past life regression, I felt a deep calm and relief. These feelings stemmed from the knowing that whatever I experience in this life, my Soul survives and goes on to continue learning and growing. Also, any over importance I place on this current life, and pressure I put on myself to ‘get it right’, began to relax and ease. This has helped me to be more present and available to the current moment.

The next day after the Experiential Astrology workshop I did a search online for, “Indian Goddess Dancing”. The first thing that appeared was an image of the type of sculpture I saw in the opening meditation. The title was, ‘Nataraja’. I followed the Wikipedia link. The entry read,

Nataraja (Sanskrit: नटराज, romanized: Naṭarāja Tamil: நடராஜர்,), also known as Adalvallan (Tamil: ஆடல்வல்லான்), is a depiction of Shiva, one of the main deities in Hinduism, as the divine cosmic dancer…
